My name is Giselle Kennedy and I live and love in beautiful Hood River, Oregon. I made my first short film several years ago while earning a degree in Media Studies at the University of San Francisco – it was about a little art house in the city, founded and operated by a small group of fantastically quirky artists. Perhaps it was then that I realized that the best thing about filmmaking was the possibility of taking a closer look at the magnificent things that occur and the extraordinary people that exist all around us, every day.

A lot has happened since then, namely the development of my love affair with all things food + farms and a migration to the Pacific Northwest. Since moving to Oregon in 2010, I have had the opportunity to immerse myself in the food, agriculture and landscape of the Northwest through my work with regional companies and organizations wishing to tell their story, educate their audience, or promote a particular practice. Through this work, I aim to engage communities and individuals in discussions about our role in this big, wonderful world.

I also produce music videos. For every great song, there is a potentially great music video (much of the time, I can see it playing in my head while listening). Musicians are fellow storytellers and I thoroughly enjoy finding the imagery that captures the essence of their art.

As I live out my own love story, I find myself drawn more and more to capturing the love stories of the people around me in creative ways – whether it’s a stop-motion save-the-date or a crafty, alternative wedding video. Video gives us the potential to share not just a story but a mood, a feeling, an idea, and I relish any opportunity to bring those things to life.
